 Shortly before Christmas each year the residents who live along the canals in Venice (the one in

 California) sponsor a boat parade as an alternative to the fancy yacht parade at Marina del Rey. 

 Maren had a party for her pals, an elf fell overboard, Santa nearly sank into the canal, and we had

 lots of laughs:
